WHS Music 2025 Southern California Trip is ON

CONFIRMED DATES:  depart Friday May 16th and return Sunday May 18th 2025

This is a bus trip from Woodside High School (WHS) to the LA/Orange County area for ALL WHS music ensemble students (Marching/Concert Band, Jazz Band + Vocals, Orchestra).  To ensure that all WHS music ensemble students can participate, regardless of ability to pay, WHS Music Boosters and students raise funds throughout the year.

Actual cost per family is $686.00 per student.

This includes transportation, accommodation, entrance to Disneyland Theme Park, and some meals (Friday’s 1st night dinner, Sunday’s return meal, and bus snacks).  Students will be responsible to pay for their own lunch and dinner on Saturday, and any incidentals (e.g., items at Disneyland).

WHS Music Boosters are working to raise funds to reduce the per-student cost of the trip; we will know the final per-student cost closer to the trip date.

For students who may need financial assistance, please contact Mr. Gaydos at ngaydos@seq.org; there are funds available to assist with trip and meal costs.

Students, staff, and chaperones will stay at a hotel in Anaheim near Disneyland for 2 nights.  Students will be lodged in either 3- or 4-same-gender students per hotel room.

All music ensembles will participate in the "Soundtrack Sessions" workshop, part of the Disney Imagination Campus educational program.  Students will learn a repertoire of Disney music and record their own performance piece.  They will work with Disney teaching artists to hone fundamental skills including intonation, musical balance, and tone quality.  In addition to sight-reading practice and ensemble-training, students will learn how phrasing, dynamics, and articulation can add emotion to music.  The workshop will culminate with a screening of the students' recorded work set to Disney film footage.  Students will experience the excitement, focus, and fast-paced energy of a professional recording studio environment and will gain insight into careers in the recording and film industries.

All music ensembles will also perform at a performance exchange with a Southern California high school.

Students will have time on Saturday May 24th to visit Disneyland Theme Park with chaperones and WHS staff.
